Linda was born on October 15, 1918, to Adolf and Bertha (Schott) Bettig in Benton Harbor. On November 20, 1941, she married Albert Sommers. Following the wedding, Albert was drafted and honorably served during WWII. They shared nearly fifty years of marriage before he passed on February 15, 1991. Professionally, Linda worked at Benton Harbor Basket Factory, Continental Can Company, New Products and the Musselman Factory, where she retired. Linda was a lifetime member at Stevensville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, reading – especially Grace Livingston Hill novels, listening to German music on her Phonograph and being in touch with her friends, whether talking over the phone or going out to dinner. Most of all, Linda cherished time spent with her family and had a servant’s heart, always helping others.

Linda is survived by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolf and Bertha Bettig; beloved husband, Albert Sommers and siblings, Henry Bettig, Olga Gerdel and Elsie Wesner.

Aunt Linda was our beloved, generous and loving great aunt. My sister and cousins have wonderful memories of Aunt Linda and Uncle Al, her husband especially at holidays and family gatherings over the years. She was always so generous and kind, sending birthday cards and remembering our special occasions. We love her very much and will miss her.
