Obituary

Mary T. De Porter, 88, of Stevensville, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Serenity Shore Assisted Living. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services. Cremation has taken place and burial will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church memorial garden at a later date. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Mary was born on December 14, 1932, in Nieczajna, Poland to Jan & Honorata (Sojka) Wajda. She married Edward De Porter, of Paterson, NJ, in 1970. They relocated to Stevensville when Edward was transferred by Continental Can Company. The two were happily married until his passing in July of 2012. Together they loved to take cruises. Mary also loved cooking and tending to her geraniums.

Mary is survived by her step-daughter, Ellen (Bruce) Skewes of The Villages, FL and sister, Emily Wayda of Boca Raton, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jan & Honorata; husband, Edward; siblings, Peter, Elizabeth and Mickey; and step-granddaughter, Lori.

Service Details

Cremation has taken place and burial will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church memorial garden at a later date.

Sorry to hear of Mary's passing. We enjoyed having her (and Ed) as our neighbors, and the breakfasts and lunches we shared.
Mary had a smile and good word for us each time we saw her.
When we visited her at then nursing home, she always knew who we were and was happy to see us. She had stories to tell us that would help her reminisce and would bring a smile to us all. Will miss her smiling face.
