Obituary

Jerry W. Hoffman, 40, of Lansing, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020, at 1pm, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Jerry was born on February 1, 1980, to Anthony “Tony” & Saundra (Martin) Hoffman in St. Joseph. He graduated from St. Joseph High School and most recently was working for Capstone LLG., as a delivery driver. Jerry loved singing and playing music. He also enjoyed watching movies. He had a passion for being outdoors, hiking in the mountains. Jerry will be remembered for his kind heart and loving spirit.

Jerry is survived by his mother, Saundra Hoffman of St. Joseph; girlfriend, Elisa Pope of Lansing; sister Heather Escobar of Benton Harbor; nieces & nephews, Gabriella & Abigail Escobar, Antonio & Daniel Texco-Hoffman; grandmothers, Gwendolyn Little of St. Joseph & Dorothy Hicks of Stevensville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father Tony Hoffman in January 2020.

I got know Jerry playing music with local musicians in the Deep Fried Pickles from about 2002-2010. Jerry had a great sense of humor and a gift for playing guitar. It’s sad he died so young. I’ll miss him as I know others will also!
