Obituary

Gloria M. Agay, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Caretel Inns of Lakeland.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at 10AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church St., with Fr. Arul Lazar officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, January 27, 2020, from 3PM until 5PM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A rosary will be recited at 5PM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Society of St. Vincent DePaul (SVDP). Those wishing to leave a memorial contribution online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Gloria was born on May 13, 1940, to Arthur & Helen (Rudnick) Schultz in St. Joseph. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School and continued her education at Nazareth College where she earned her Bachelors in Education. Gloria taught for over 35 years at Benton Harbor Elementary School teaching second and third grade before her retirement. Gloria married David Agay at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for over 79 years and a founding member of the Society of St. Vincent DePaul Conference. Gloria enjoyed volunteering for the Morlock Center in St. Joseph and for Birthright. She also spent her time sewing and making different crafts. Most of all, Gloria loved to spend time with her family, especially her great nieces and nephews.

Gloria is survived by her siblings, Eugene Schultz of California and Carole Demkovich of Stevensville; two step-children; two step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur & Helen Schultz and husband David Agay.

Gloria was my neighbor. She will always be remembered for her countless hours of volunteering to help others in need and for the love of her dogs. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
