Dorothy A. Winters, 100, formerly of Stevensville, died Friday, August 21 in Groveland, Florida.

A Celebration of Life service will be held September 18, 2020, at 2 pm, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Dr. Robert Weikart officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run cemetery.

Dorothy was born on December 19, 1919, to William and Louise (Ludwig) Knuth in Royalton Township where she grew up on her family’s farm. There she had many jobs including picking fruit, especially raspberries and grapes, and caring for farm animals.

She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1937, and from Walther Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. After graduation she worked as a registered nurse at Hines Hospital in Chicago where she met her future husband. She married Mitchell Bobinski in December, 1943, and then resided in Royalton Township. She continued her nursing career, working as an RN at Mercy Hospital and later at various physicians’ offices in the St. Joseph area.

She and her best friend, her sister, Marian, were avid shoppers and never missed a sale.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Mitchell Bobinski, her parents and her sister Marian Krieger. She is survived by her daughter Joanne (Rev. Dr. Robert) Weikart and her son Mark (Cathy) Bobinski, five grandchildren Megan (Kyle) Krueger, Zachary Weikart, Justin (Lindsay) Weikart, Jordan (Ashley) Weikart and Max (Lauren) Bobinski, four great grandchildren Noah, Kyler, Brady and Davis Weikart, and her nephew Steven (Anne) Krieger.
