Cammie was born January 2, 1940 in Benton Harbor, MI to Carl & Evelyn (Cox) Mitchell. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1957. She then attended Michigan State University where she received her Associates Degree. On September 10, 1960 she married the love of her life, Bruce, in Benton Harbor, MI. Shortly after marrying while at MSU, Cammie and Bruce moved to Illinois where they raised their 2 children and fell in love with boating. She spent the majority of her life in Illinois until retirement, at which time they sold their home and traveled the country in their RV. They ended up splitting their time in homes they purchased in Florida and near her home town in Michigan. She loved watching sports (especially ones involving her grandchildren), golfing, boating, traveling, crafting, knitting, doing crossword puzzles, and just loving life. Her passion was her family and friends, she brought joy and happiness to all who had the privilege to know her. She made lifelong friends along the way with her positive outlook on life and charismatic personality. To know Cammie was to love Cammie.

Cammie is survived by her husband Bruce of 60 years of marriage; son Steve Hunt; daughter Sandy Gier; granddaughters Megan & Rachael Gier; siblings Kathy Hill, Cynthia Mitchell, Jane Pallas and Carl “Punky” (Patty) Mitchel; and many nieces and nephews.

To Bruce and the entire Mitchell/Hunt clan, Sheri and I send you our most heartfelt condolences on the passing of Cammie. She was a very special and kind person. Memories, from our earliest days on Fair Plain, breakfast at the beach, to the reunions of our blended families, are all special. God Bless You All. Sincerely, John Goodwin and Sheri Thelander

Cammie was such a special person. She was so thoughtful, kind and a lot of fun to be with and never complained, no matter what she was feeling. Even though I didn’t share much time with her through the years because of proximity, Cammie and family attended the Goodwin/Mitchell/Faraone summer family reunions in St. Joe, Michigan. She usually brought her famous pasta salad! What a great time our families always had. Last summer, Cammie, Kathy, Cynthia, Jane cousin Julie and I went to Admiral Jacks in South Haven for lunch. We had a blast! We wish we had done that before. I’m so happy that worked out as that was the last time I saw Cammie. I’ll always remember what a good time we had. I called Cammie on her birthday, January 2, and had such a nice conversation with her, for which I am so thankful. Cammie will be so missed by so many. Our hearts go out to Bruce and the entire family and know that Cammie is at peace. I wish we could be at Cammie’s Celebration of Life, but know that she is in our hearts and thoughts. May God’s love and grace and your memories of Cammie comfort all of you. Much love and hugs. Elizabeth and Frank.
